Blogging these days has been a bit tough on all of us. Social media is easy. You create content in minutes, you post it, you forget about it. However, a blog comes in when you’re serious about creating that deep, meaningful connection. If you’re not sure where you’re heading towards with your blog- this post is for you. Let’s talk.
The well knows the truth about the blogging industry is that it keep changing daily. Therefore, it is important to take time and check in with yourself in order to stay on track. Here are five main questions you need to ask yourself when planning the future of your blog.
#1 What’s your WHY?
If you want to feel satisfaction from your blog, you have to know why you’re doing this in the first place. Money, freebies or fame aren’t the right reasons tho.
Think of how your knowledge could improve people’s lives to the better. Be open, share your insights and the rewards will be astonishing.
By determining your purpose, you will get all of that passion back straight away. Trust me on this.
#2 Am I doing it all?
Look, being busy doesn’t mean you’re being productive. Stop focusing on all the unnecessary things and find our own path instead. Make a list of all the posts you can create using these blog post ideas, take an online photography course, make a schedule & join some Facebook communities to connect with fellow bloggers.
Working as a blogger gives you so much freedom, but it also comes with a lot of responsibilities. To be honest, I do work all the time. If I’m not blogging, I’m communicating with my design clients, creating new ideas, learning the things, reading inspirational content etc, etc. There’s always SOMETHING you can do. Always.
#3 Am I building a brand?
If you’re building a presence online, but are not constantly evolving- you’re losing this game. The blogosphere keeps changing every day, so you have to continue to learn in order to grow. Look at your online presence as a brand and stop focussing on a single platform, if you look at any successful brand out there, you will notice that they put equal effort into all of the outlets out there and most importantly- they focus on creating sleek, recognizable branding on their own websites, newsletters, blogs and every, literally EVERY social media account.
#4 What’s my audience?
Your blog is your personal space on the internet. However as you made it public yourself & keep sharing your posts on social media- you also need to start thinking about the needs of those reading it.
Go through your Google Analytics stats and see which type of posts attract the most views. Analyze your demographics, really dig deep to find out what type of people are reading your blog. This might just give you the right answer on what to post next.
Not that long ago I’ve created a quick survey for my blog & seeing the results really put everything into perspective for me. I realized what my audience expects from me & got such lovely feedback as well. Try this for yourself!
#5 Where am I going?
Setting the ultimate goal for yourself is a great idea. It helps you stay more focused & picks you up when you’re going through hard times. If you’re having trouble deciding what you want to accomplish with your website, take a look at these tips!
