I know for sure that my blog wouldn’t grow as fast without any help from social media. The truth is, most of my visitors and clients come directly from my accounts elsewhere. If you’re currently trying to grow your blog- social media can improve your stats hugely. Of course, you need to have the right strategy ready. In this post, I’m going to outline some of the top points to keep in mind when growing your blog through social media. Let’s go!
Let me be honest with you for a minute. Your potential clients don’t want to see your drunk face on a Friday night out & they couldn’t care less about those ten pictures of your cat you just posted. If you want to bring traffic from your social media to your blog, you need to be clear about your niche & dedicate your content to it. Of course, adding personal bits to your social media feeds is more than OK, just be professional.
For example. I used to love using my Pinterest for saving all the foodie images, outfit inspirations or any articles I’d like to read. However, only when I applied clear, focused techniques to my account, I noticed a jump in my page views & following. Read more:How I turned Pinterest into my biggest source of referral traffic.
Same with my Instagram really. Even though I share quite a lot of pictures from my daily life, I always, always try to connect my Instagram posts to what I’m currently working on for my blog + biz. You can always create a separate, personal account if you want to share more casual content with your friends or family.
BRAND YOURSELF
You should make your goal to get recognised on social media. I mean, you know when you see someone wearing a piece of clothing & you can tell straight away which shop it was bought at? That’s the thing you should strive for! Create yourself a logo, set a colour palette & stick to 2-3 fonts all over your social media + blog. If you need any help with that, just visit KBD →.
BE SOCIAL
After all, it’s called social for a reason, right? You can not possibly expect for people to get engaged into your social media entries if you’re not giving anything in return. Make sure to comment, like, follow and be generally active on your chosen outlets. Not only this will help you grow faster, but you can also end up with a new friend! Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals is the best thing you can do for your blog + biz!
PROMOTE YOUR CONTENT
Now this one might sound obvious, but with all the fuss going on you might simply miss on actually promoting the content you create. You need to start telling your followers what you want them to do next. Go ahead & post a little intro to your new post or product and encourage your social media subscriber to visit your page. I get a lot of new viewers every time I post a new image on Instagram, tweet or promote my content on Pinterest. Of course, you should avoid looking spammy, but if you think about it, people already followed you because they liked your content, your job now is to lead them into taking action.
THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX
We all know how major social media sites can turn you from regular blogger to a successful online entrepreneur. However, it doesn’t mean that only a huge recognition on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Pinterest might lead you to victory. You should also look into using alternatives such as Bloglovin, Stumbleupon, Weheartit, etc. Find what works for you. Who knows, maybe you’re the next guru of the system nobody is using yet? That’s what I love about blogging the most- we can find our own ways to make this journey successful.
HAVE A SCHEDULE
You should make a system for the way you use your social media accounts to recognise what works and what doesn’t. I know it might seem like a lot of work, but by using the right scheduling tools you can figure out best times for promoting your content as well as save loads & loads of time of actually posting the entries online.
Hope you enjoyed this post, folks! Let me know which social media platform works best for your blog?
