I struggle with this a lot. As a business owner, I often feel like taking time off requires actual efforts. However, during the years, I discovered a few ways that truly help when it comes to switching off completely.
I know it’s hard. I know it’s frustrating, but we all need this. Take time off technologies for at least a day. This can do wonders to your overall being.
Run Away
It doesn’t have to be far away. Maybe a quick walk to your favourite coffee shops is all you need in order to get yourself back on track. Leave your regular place of work & go outside. Fresh air cures everything!
Learn Something New
If you feel like you worry about your current tasks/life problems too much- occupy your brain with something new. Take an e-course, challenge yourself to practice a new language or try skateboarding!
Getting lost into an inspiring book or magazine is everything to me. It can be as scientific or as entertaining as you wish, just find something you really enjoy. My current favourites: The Gentlewomen, The Happy Reader, The Mothers, Super Genes.
Try meditation
I don’t meditate that often, but I always turn to finding my inner peace when I’m most stressed. Just a few mindful minutes can help you feel less stressed & get your mind straightened up. I love using Headspace app for this, it makes things so much easier.
Write
I recently got into using 5 Minute Journal & it’s been a lifesaver! I now try to spend at least a few minutes a day writing my thoughts down & getting some time just for myself.
Treat Yourself
I don’t know about you guys, but nothing feels more relaxing to me than a self-pamper night. I run myself a bath, pour a glass of wine, light a candle & enjoy a good read.
Have a Date Night
I know, I know, you might not have a partner at this point in your life, but who cares? Take your best friend, your mum or even just yourself out! Have a tasty dinner, watch a movie & enjoy an evening walk. We all deserve some fun!
Surround Yourself With People You Love
I have a group of friends that bring me the best memories. Whenever you feel like you need some time off- invite your best buds overs & enjoy an evening full of laughter. That’s what friends are for after all!
Do Nothing
Seriously, sometimes all you need to do is absolutely nothing. Allow yourself a day like this. Stay in your pyjamas, watch your favourite TV show & order some greasy Chinese. Understand that it’s completely OK to have days like this every once in a while. Don’t feel bad not even for a second.
