I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. In every business tips post out there you’ll always find encouragement to seek for a bigger purpose than money when you’re building a business. I can agree that running a business with a purpose is a must, but there’s nothing wrong with starting a business with a clear plan to actually benefit financially out of it. Let’s talk about this.
For some reason, money talk is still very challenging to us even when it comes to talking about a business. Somehow, a thing that is supposed to make money isn’t supposed to be “about money”. How comes?
“One of the most common obstacles to achieving financial independence is a deep-seated belief that somehow money is wrong and that people who have a lot of it are inherently evil.
This belief is not based on any factual foundation. It goes back to early childhood conditioning when the growing child is often told this because of other people’s desire to rationalize away their own financial failures. “- Brian Tracy
You see, the society taught us to think about wealth as a negative thing, even though so many of us desperately seek for that financial freedom. Let’s be real here for a moment, even if that business of yours has the biggest, world-changing meaning behind it, how long and how deep could you dedicate yourself to it if you had to worry about not paying your bills on time?
I don’t see money as evil. In fact, I believe that financial success can help us create even better & bigger things that would not only benefit us only but others too. Here’s why starting a business to make money isn’t wrong:
There are two main money mindsets people usually have: an abundance mindset and a scarcity mindset. People who have an abundance mindset are usually positive about their money and therefore, they trust and believe in their ability to make and earn it.
Those with an abundance mindset know the world has lots of money. They’re thrilled when people around them make money because that means it’s possible for them, too. They trust like the universe has their back and that if they keep working hard, the money will come.
Here’s why they’re happy to invest and donate. They believe that if they give money away, it will come back to them.
Now people with a scarcity money mindset, on the other hand, always worry about money and say negative things about money, they are jealous of other people’s financial success and spread random thoughts on how we should ashamed to admit that we actually care about money. These people actually fear they will run out of money and penny pinch not to save, but because they are scared of not having enough.
Obviously, a positive mindset towards money is the key and here’s why you should be proud about starting a business to make money.
As much as I love free courses and material available out there, the only way to really move forward is by investing in yourself. The money will help you pay for those life-changing online courses, get professional website design or, in fact, start a website in the first place.
Hiring other people has actually been the biggest award in my businesses so far. Paying for other people’s talents is such a great feeling and I just love being a part, even a small one, of their success. The truth is:
“The smartest business decision you can make is to hire qualified people. Bringing the right people on board saves you thousands, and your business will run smoothly and efficiently.” – Brian Tracy
Tracking the growth of your business can be hard if you don’t track your accounting. Monthly or quarterly income reports can help you see your progress and bring you more ideas on how your business can be improved. The reality is, when I say I want to make more money, I usually don’t really think about how more money is going to change my life, rather than that, I wonder how better decisions will improve my clients’ needs and consequently, my income.
I don’t know about you, but I’m much better at doing my job when I’m sure that all of my bills are paid and I can afford a nice dinner out with my other half. It’s simple- when we don’t have to worry about the little things, we can focus on building a bigger picture.
Here you go, my friend! If you’re looking to start an online business, getting a positive money mindset is the first thing you should work on. Money is not an evil thing and you should have no shame in establishing a website in order to benefit financially out of it.
