1. The front page is too hectic. You’re bombarding your customers with too many offers or products straight on the front page, it simply feels overwhelming to visit your website. As you have so much going on, your website is running slow and therefore your customers leave. Keep it simple, it’s best if you separate content into different areas & only highlight the key points on your front page.
2. Not enough information on the front page. Now you do want to keep it simple, but you also want to keep it informative. Make sure to include info about your main offer, introduce yourself, add call-to-action buttons that lead to purchase, contact form, or lead-generation page.
3. Call to action buttons don’t stand out. Don’t make this mistake, make sure your buttons are bright, welcome & easy to click on.
4. Very basic design. Now you might think you are in no position to design a professional website, but I bet you will be surprised that designing a website that looks great can actually be really affordable! Get in touch if you’d like to know more!
5. No payment options available. I see this all the time – small business owners using their websites as some kind of a business card to represent their offers which isn’t wrong in any way, BUT you have to make sure you also have payment options available, so your potential clients can pay straight away.
6. Lack of contact information. You have to make it easy for your visitors to contact you if they have any questions. It’s best if you even feature your contact information on every page!
7. Low-quality images. Pixelated images on your website are NEVER allowed. Never!
8. Not thinking of your SEO score. If possible, start implementing at least basic SEO rules since the early days. I personally love using YOAST SEO plugin to keep on top of my SEO game!
9. No about page. Trust me, people love visiting your about page. You might be surprised by the percentage of visitors that end up there.
10. Extremely slow loading. The longer your customers wait for your website to loud – there more chances they will change their minds. Don’t let this happen to you! Make sure you optimize your website every once in a while.
