September 19th, marked my beautiful Mom’s birthday and I decided to take here on a little adventure!
We landed in Copenhagen in the early (way too early) morning on Tuesday and luckily, our Airbnb host was able to let us into the apartment straight away.
We stayed at the beautiful studio in the north part of the town and the location couldn’t be more perfect!
Quickly, we dropped our backs and were excited to explore!
First stop- The Little Mermaid. I have no idea what all the fuss is about, but this seems to be the most iconic place & we just had to pay a visit. It was crowded with tourists tho, so we didn’t stay for long & after a few embarrassing selfies- we were off to the other side of the canal.
After taking a quick ferry ride, we reached Christianshavn where we got to admire impressive Copenhagen Opera House, visited Freetown Christiania & grabbed lunch at Papirøen– a famous Copenhagen Street Food Market.
After a quick break, we walked & walked for hours, exploring beautiful architecture, visiting Royal Residences & even paying a visit to Copenhagen Design Museum.
I checked my steps counter app & it showed that we hit almost 30,000 steps that day. We were so ready to lie-down…
We woke up bright and early the next morning & after a quick cup of coffee, we headed back to the city for a day full of shopping and delicious food!
The pedestrian street in Copenhagen, called Strøget, is a maze of small and big streets with hundreds of shops and cafés, so we took a chance to update our a/w wardrobes.
Shopping takes time guys & you know it! After a few hours, we were tired, hungry and ready for some lunch! I checked Foursquare and it guided us to a cute little cafe, named Sonny. We both got super delicious sandwiches, followed by freshly made salads and homemade lemonade. The owner of the cafe was also super friendly & helpful! Definitely, worth paying a visit if you’re around.
We then hit a few more shops, admired those cosiest little streets this city got to offer & headed back to our Airbnb to get ready for dinner.
I heard a lot of good things about Nyhavn area of the city and decided to have our final dinner there, relaxing by the canal and getting to try some local cuisine.
We ended up at Nyhavns Færgekro & couldn’t be more happy about our choice. The service was smooth & friendly while the food was delicious. Luckily, it was warm enough to sit outside & enjoy the beautiful views.
I didn’t get to take that many pictures as I wanted to focus on giving my mom the best experience ever & she seems to be thrilled.
Copenhagen is simply the best city to visit if you only have a couple days off. It’s easy to get around & the locals are so friendly! No surprise, I keep coming back here, take a look at this post from my last trip!
