It’s been a month since we’ve moved to live in the most remote part of the country & to say the least, it’s been quite of a change.
Going from living in the capital city and now staying here, in a tiny fishing town by the seaside has really taught me quite a few things about myself and well… life in general.
Here are some of the things I’d love to share with you:
Boredom doesn’t exist. I understand that not everyone could live like this. However, hearing all of those “Oh, I couldn’t do it, I HAVE TO live in the city” makes me really understand that some people just need distractions in their lives and that’s so odd to me. You see, I always have something to do on my plate. If that isn’t a new project I’m working on, I always have a list of books I want to read, e-courses to take or nearby places I want to explore. Seriously, I don’t think I ever get bored. I mean…we have Wi-Fi here!
Slowing down is a must. As I think about it now, we’ve been hustling like crazy for the last eight years or so. Not only in building our business, but also in changing locations, socializing, travelling and well- basically never saying ‘no’. Don’t get me wrong, I loved every single minute of it, but there were so many things I had to postpone because of our busy schedule. I’m now very glad to have enough time for all the small chores and pleasures I think of.
Change is always good. I opened up about my personal struggles in this post and just changing the location and going for my goals improved my state of mind so much. You see, I believe that in the back of our head we all know what would make us happier, but yet, we neglect that feeling and try to make it work with what we already have. I’m not saying that you should pack your bags and leave right now, but listening to your inner voice can really help you find the change that you need.
Routine can be a great thing. With all of this extra time, we actually manage to schedule it better than we used to. We go to bed earlier and have early mornings, we dedicate time to exercise, time for entertainment and time for work. Having a proper routine actually makes me feel better both physically and mentally. I wake up fresh headed, ready for the new challenges & I get to spend better quality time with my other half.
Having less is liberating. So as we packed our bags and left our old apartment, we moved some of the bigger things such as furniture we’ve decided to keep into my parents’ basement. We then only took a few bags with us and well, I think we even took more than we actually need. Not only I didn’t run short on anything during this month, a few times as I was about to place another Asos order, I realised that I really don’t need any extra things right now. This feeling is truly liberating.
Nothing lasts forever. Oh, thank you for writing this down, Mrs Obvious. But seriously- I know we will only be staying here for another five months or so and I truly want to take the most out of this part of our life. I realise that I haven’t appreciated places I’ve got to live in the past enough. This time, I don’t want to make the same mistake and I want to spend as much time as possible outside and use this time to prepare us for everything we’ve planned out!
Let me know if you guys are planning on taking a new turn in your life, I’d love to hear all about it!
