This is kind of a weird topic to talk about, but I feel like it’s so important. We live in times where words like “perfect” or “goals” are used 24/7. We deal with anxiety, we compare ourselves to others on social media, we’ve been brought up to feel like we can do everything, yet things do not always seem to be going the way we’ve planned them out. This is stressful. It easily ruins our self-esteem and makes us feel like we’re not good enough…
I am no exception.
I was lucky enough to be born in the family with super supportive parents. They let us try everything, go for our dreams no matter how unsafe they were and I always heard encouragement every step I took. Everything seemed to be so achievable, so easy. As if the only thing I had to do is to wish for it and it will happen… Well, now we all know that’s not how it works.
The adult life turned out to be a bit more difficult tho. Apparently, there are so many awesome, insanely talented people out there that it can be pretty hard to keep up.
And yes I have to admit, sometimes I do not feel…
Pretty Enough
Fit Enough
Smart Enough
Successful Enough
Adventurous Enough
Inspiring Enough
Good Enough…
It doesn’t feel great to write this down, but I want to be transparent with you. I don’t want to share stories about perfect life and how awesome I think I am.
If you are your worst enemy when it comes to self-examination- give me a high five!
I feel like admitting that you’re not perfect is absolutely OK. In fact, it’s healthy.
Now the only difference between feeling like sh*t because of this and feeling like a human being is your point of view.
Look, we can actually control the way we feel about ourselves. I know it might not be the easiest thing to do, but it’s so damn worth it.
Just changing my own point of view, turned everything into a more positive light for me.
You see, living a perfect life or being the best is not on my priority list & it shouldn’t be on yours either. I have no idea why I’ve been chasing for perfection all this time. It is so pointless.
In short, I decided to enjoy the journey instead of focussing on the destination.
These days, I want to make mistakes, I want to continue to learn, I want to know that I have space to improve and more than anything- I want to love myself for who I am at this very moment. With all of my flaws…
I now see that I do have more than enough in my life & I can feel like I’m going to grow even further and reach my goals in one way or another.
I’ve decided to be good enough… for myself.
And in fact, it turned out better than I was expecting…
After a few posts I have written on feeling blue and comparing yourself to others, I realised that by showing my true colours, not everyone might like me, but at least I can feel myself. That’s a very rewarding feeling. This way, I have also achieved more meaningful connection with you guys & now that’s something absolutely worth my time!
It seems like I am not the only one dealing with these thoughts and guys- we have to be loud & proud about this.
It’s 100% OK not to feel good enough…
Just remember:
