Throughout the years, I’ve discovered that freelance life has its ups and downs and some things proved to work for me in making my freelance life suck less. Let me share them with you.
Save Up
Every freelancer needs to have a few extra bucks left in their bank account. Make sure to create yourself a budget & stick to it. It’s important that you learn to manage your money not only cause it lets you sleep better at night but also because you don’t want to miss the new opportunities that can come your way at any point. Be smart about your finances & it your whole journey will become so much easier to handle!
Getting yourself somewhere without a clear plan can be tough. Get a piece of paper and start writing. Create yourself a schedule- set clear deadlines for the big and small tasks you need to complete every day, list your current stats & the income you make. Count your expenses & figure out how much you should make in order to live comfortably. Be realistic here. I’m sure if you do well, you will grow your income in no time, but for now- stick to essentials only. Once you know the money you need to make, you can start focussing on the money you wish to make.
Create Various Stream Of Income
Relying on only one stream of income is very risky, so it’s best if you come up with at least three different ways to make a steady paycheck. You don’t have to overwork in order to make a living working for yourself, but try & be flexible with what you offer. You will see what actually appeals to your audience over time, the beginning of your business is the opportunity to freely experiment & work out which streams bring the most income.
Stick To Your Niche
Find your niche & stick to it. I only saw a significant growth in my business once I started blogging primarily about blogs & blogging tips. By doing this, I also found my purpose in blogging community & that’s the best thing ever! Whatever your business is about, think how you can niche your products or services down. This will make your clients’ life way easier as well as will help you stand out from the crowd.
It’s important to present yourself well. Create your social media branding, have a memorable logo, get a professional blog/website design and be proud of what you do! It’s an amazing feeling to hear someone say ‘ oh this is so YOU ‘ it means people recognise your work and your style.
Hope you’ve enjoyed this post, folks! Let me know if you’re currently trying to build your freelance business from scratch!
