The blogosphere has been going a bit crazy about The Ordinary range and, of course, I got tempted to see what all the fuss is about!
Alright, let’s be honest here for a second- these products simply look great. I’m sure they do the work just as well, but the minimalistic packaging is what caught my attention first. I love the minimal approach the brand took upon & I’m proud to place these on the main bathroom shelve. Cause nobody likes ugly packaging & we all know it!
Now let’s talk about the actual products, shall we?
I’ve only tested these recently, but can already feel like you guys are going to hear a lot more about this brand here on the blog.
My skin isn’t great. I have blemishes, I get dark under-eyes, I enjoy wine & cheese way too much & end up in having breakouts quite often. Therefore, I went ahead & picked a Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution. Apparently, it’s supposed to improve skin radiance and visible clarity. The formula also improves the appearance of skin texture with continued use. It sounds good to me! I was a bit afraid of this toner as my skin can be a bit sensitive to new products and well, this one includes acid. I had no reasons for this tho, as this toner also contains a studied Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative which helps to reduce irritation associated with acid use. If you decide to give this product a go, you’re going to want to go in hard on the SPF after using this for at least a week – even if it’s cloudy. I mean, it is exfoliator after all!
The second product I craved to try was Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%. Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) is indicated to reduce the appearance of skin blemishes and congestion. A high 10% concentration of this vitamin is supported in the formula by zinc salt of pyrrolidone carboxylic acid to balance visible aspects of sebum activity. For those not aware, sebum is a naturally occurring substance that moisturizes, lubricates and protects the skin and hair. However, sebum is also an important source of energy for acne-causing & oiliness. I tend to deal with a pretty oily T-zone & after only a few uses this product seem to have stabilized the shininess on my face. Can’t wait to see how well it works throughout the continued use.
As a freelancer, I spend waaaay too much time in front of my computer screen & tend to work crazy hours from time to time. No surprise, I often wake up with puffy eyes. The Ordinary’s Caffeine Solution sounds like a dream product to me & although I didn’t pull an all-nighter since I’ve got it just yet, I’m pretty excited to see how it works its magic on me.This light-textured formula contains an extremely high 5% concentration of caffeine, supplemented with highly-purified Epigallocatechin Gallatyl Glucoside (EGCG) from green tea leaves. Studies have shown that topical use of each of caffeine and EGCG can help reduce looks of puffiness and of dark circles in the eye contour.
Their serum foundation is also such a discovery for me! I don’t like using heavy makeup, therefore this product is just what I’ve been looking for ages! It’s light, but gives a great cover & simply feels great on my skin. It gives this moisturising feeling, so you might want to powder a bit more afterwards, but overall it’s an amazing everyday foundation!
