This month, I was invited by Visit Estonia team to visit Tallinn. Of course, I immediately said yes. As I ever only spent a couple of hours in the capital of Estonia, I was so excited to explore it properly this time! See what I’ve been up to…
On our way to Tallinn, we stopped by a few nature resorts. By now, you guys probably already know that I love everything related to the sea, but this time I was particularly impressed by the Keila Waterfall in Northern Estonia on Keila River. It is the third most powerful waterfall in Estonia & is 6 meters high and 60–70 meters wide. It really got us off to a good start.
After taking way too many pictures by the waterfall, we were almost running late to meet Nancy from the Visit Estonia team. After a short drive, we were already in the old town of Tallinn, ready to see a place we’ll be staying at for the next few days.
We were so lucky to be hosted at the most amazing Storytellers Nest located in the heart of the city. The place had everything a blogger might need on a short city break. Nancy was so lovely to show us around as well as give some useful tips for wining, dining & everything we might need during our stay.
After a quick break, we were ready to go, explore & find a good place to eat!
Sadly, the rain started to pour, so we had to be quick…
After a long & windy walk we ended up at Rataskaevu 16 and oh boy we were in luck… Apparently, the place is usually fully booked, but they just happened to have a free spot for us! These guys definitely know what they’re doing! The customer service is simply brilliant & the food was one of the best I ever had. Seriously…
I mean just look at that! This was just perfect!
After our dinner, the sky cleared out & we got to see Tallinn’s old town in the dark. It was so breathtaking. We then ended up in the pub, tasting some local brews & planning our days ahead.
We decided to spend our second day exploring the treasures of the city. After breakfast, we drove straight to the beach for a walk and visited Russalka Memorial as well as Lauluväljak.
As we were up for more sightseeing, we drove to Kadrioru park which was so, so pretty!
We also stopped by a KUMU museum which is actually one of the largest museums in Estonia and one of the largest art museums in Northern Europe. The building itself is utterly radiant & they have a very cosy coffee shop too!
After all the walking we were a bit exhausted & it was almost time for lunch! YAY!
We were determined to enjoy some Italian food & headed over to Enoteca Lucca for some perfect afternoon treats! We were very pleased with service & food, so if you’re looking for a great place for lunch while up there- definitely make sure to pay a visit!
For the end of the day, I had a plan to visit some local boutiques and Telliskivi Loomelinnak seemed to be a perfect spot for that! We ubered there straight after lunch and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon admiring local designers work.
To end our evening right, we stopped by F-hoone for some beers & snacks. This pub has the cosiest vibes & the food is just sooo good too!
For our last day, we wanted to spend some time in nature & decided to visit Lahemaa national park. We already visited this place last year & I’ve been craving to go back ever since! It has this magical vibe, I can’t explain it!
On our way up there, we also stopped by to admire Jagala Waterfall. The waterfall is approx. 8 metres in height and more than 50 metres in width which makes it the widest natural waterfall in Estonia.
Afterwards, we finally reached Lahemaa and decided to take a little hike in Viru Bogu. It was so refreshing to spend some time in the woods & the weather just happened to be so lovely. The time flew by! As we had dinner reservations for the evening, it was almost time to go back to Tallinn.
For our last supper in Estonia, we decided to leave the old town & visit Umami restaurant which is located just out of central Tallinn. We were pleasantly surprised! Umami is one of those places that you fall in love with at the first sight. So simple, yet professional. As they say themselves: “Food matters, not snobbing”. I couldn’t agree more!
The weather was warm enough to enjoy our meal in their garden & as it apparently was International Blogger Day, we had to get some bubbles too!
Post dinner, we went back to the city centre & explored beautiful sunset from the upper old town. We also stopped by Mana La Roosa on our way back to the apartment & enjoyed a lovely evening with some tasty cocktails and heartwarming talks.
The next morning, it was time to go home & we honestly didn’t want to leave! We completely fell in love with this beautiful country & I can’t wait to go back there anytime soon!
Let me know if you guys are planning a trip to Tallinn & feel free to ask any questions, I’d love to give you some more tips!
