Lately, I’ve been thinking more & more about what makes me truly happy. I realised that during the years, I developed some habits that do not fulfil me in any way & I’ve decided to change that for good.
Don’t worry, I’m not going to lecture you about healthy food or exercising 24/7. However, I deeply believe in balance.
Thus, in this post, I decided to share some of my new, daily wellness habits that help me stay sane & feel great without pushing myself to the absolute limits. These habits are so easy to adapt to anyone & if I can do it- so can you, my friend…
Journaling
I started journaling daily a few weeks ago & I can already feel how it’s changing my life for the better. Now, every morning & evening I take a couple of minutes a day to write down some things I’m grateful for. I love using 5 minutes journal for this & it’s been SO useful. I can’t express the feeling, but journaling simply allows me to be more aware of the great things in my life daily & that’s the best thing ever.
Sleep
I always kind of considered myself to be a late bird. Well, mostly because I enjoyed parties way too much & would end up staying up late and sleeping in till afternoon. Now during the years, I realised that’s not the case at all.
Back when I just started running my design business, I was SO thrilled to wake up and see how many emails I got each morning. It was such an exciting time in my life & I remember waking up way before 8 am every day without hitting snooze on my alarm. Soon enough, I started noticing the benefits of the early mornings. I was more productive, more social, more involved in what I do daily. Of course, it also meant I was fast asleep before midnight…
Now I’m not saying that early mornings can work if you only get a few hours of sleep a day. Make sure to go to bed early & get at least 7-8 hours of sleep every day.
Meditation
Just as with journaling- you can meditate for only 5-10 minutes a day and that will already make you feel so much more aware & in the moment. I use a Headspace app for this & usually take a 10-minute session during the day. As a freelancer, I really struggle with taking breaks & meditation really helped me to find a balance throughout my day.
Less Distractions
We all have distractions that keep us from listening to our own inner voices. These distractions can really make it hard for us to find our true passions, but deep down we all know what they are. It might be too much alcohol, smoking or any toxic things in our lives. However, it can also be a toxic relationship we’re in or a job what we hate.
Simply determining what are these unpleasant distractions & getting rid of them can take you a long way. Now I’m not saying that you should go ahead & change your current lifestyle completely, but finding a balance in all of the areas in our lives is what we should all seek for.
Appreciation
I feel like this is an issue most of the entrepreneurs deal with. Whatever we do- there’s always someone doing better than us. These thoughts can kill our dreams & our confidence. That’s why we should all stop doing this right now. It’s depressing. Instead, we should start focusing on the things that we have already improved through our hard work & devotion. We should appreciate what we have in our lives right now & the rest will come naturally. Remember, as long as you’ve got passion, faith, and are willing to work hard, you can do anything and have anything you want in this world. Stick to your goals & you will get there.
