One of the most frequent questions people ask me is how I edit my Instagram pics? To be honest- I’m not the biggest editing freak. I usually go with the same settings & same apps for years, so I thought I’ll go ahead and spill the beans for you all!
My all-time favourite app has to be VSCOcam it allows you to pick different filters as well as do some deeper editing. I usually go with F2 or M5 for filters and they almost never let me down. If I don’t feel like using the full square image and want to add white canvas to the sides I open ABeautifulMess app. It also allows you to add funky writings or even drawings on your images, so it’s definitely worth checking it out! Lastly, I do from time to time have to use FaceTune. Let’s be honest with each other- we don’t usually look our best and our skin can benefit from more sleep or less coffee, but my life is just too busy! I just don’t have time for that, haha. In the emergency moments- FaceTune comes helpful, you can easily retouch any defects from the picture and no-one would even notice it!
EDITING:
If you’re like me & you don’t think about setting your camera or iPhone manually & usually use default exposure, most of the time the pictures come up a bit too dark. That’s when I increase my exposure using VSCO app or even Instagram itself. I also like adding a bit more sharp as well as decrease saturation by one or two points. Of course, you have to realise that every picture is unique and the way you edit your photos will depend on many things, so you should adjust every picture accordingly. Just learn to experiment!
CAMERA KIT:
Thus even though we associate Instagram photography with our smartphones, there are no rules on what equipment you have to use while creating your Instagram photos. I personally always try to save space on my iPhone and use my Canon 6d instead. It’s a great compact camera and it also has wi-fi option which allows me to transfer images from the camera to my iPhone or iPad instantly. There are many instagramers using their DSLR’s too, so if your phone doesn’t provide high-quality images- go ahead and use anything else you have, it’s your feed after all!
THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:
The key to Instagram success is consistency. Make sure to post frequently, but don’t be too annoying, haha. When used smartly, your Instagram can send a huge traffic to your blog and it’s so fun & easy to connect with your readers through images!
