It’s always fun to see people’s reaction when I tell them I’m a blogger. Most of those people assume I spend my days on facebook, shopping online and have no idea how I make my living. Don’t worry, things don’t come easy for me too! Thus today, I’m spilling the beans for you all & sharing what happens behind the scenes on a day to day basis.
8:00 am – I open my eyes and scroll through my feed. Check blog’s & shop’s stats, reply to social media comments and have a quick look at my e-mail. I then force myself to leave the bed and prepare for the day. I shower as all people do, get dressed and put some makeup on. This helps me feel like a person again.
9:00 am – breakfast time. I always, always start my day with coffee. You can comment on how this is not the healthiest habit, but I love coffee. period. I usually have a green smoothie for breakfast. Or toast & eggs combo if I feel like I need some extra energy. During this time, I also start answering my e-mails & messages.
10:00 am – About this time, I cycle to my office downtown and this is when proper work begins. I then spend another hour or so on my emails and social media enquiries. I try to reply to every single one of you as I believe communication with my customers and followers is the most important part of my job.
11:00 am – This is then I properly schedule my day. I get my notebook out and list all blogging/design tasks I have to do for the day. I usually separate them into 3 sections: begin / develop / finish and try to complete them all before I leave the office.
1:00 pm – I try to remember and have lunch. I might have prepared something to bring to work or I’d go out and have lunch in the city. Even if it’s tempting to eat at my desk, I dedicate around an hour for some rest.
2:00 pm – back to my computer. I will check if I received any emails and reply. If not, I will get back to working on those tasks straight away.
4:00 pm – after a few hours of intense work, I’d dedicate some time for more creative work. If I need- I will prepare photographs for upcoming posts, contact bloggers for some custom design collaborations or spend some time to seek for some inspiration!
6:00 pm – I finish my day at the office and cycle back home to prepare some dinner. I usually try to eat at home and exercise before, but if I feel particularly lazy, I’d take the boy out to eat and grab a drink. We might also watch something on Netflix after dinner and simply unwind for a bit.
8:00 pm – I turn on my laptop and spend some time on my e-mails. I will also spend extra time on social media during this time, participate in a few Twitter chats, get pinning or finish scheduling my posts. I don’t have a particular time for posting yet, but I tend to publish most of my posts during this time. If I do- I’d spend some time promoting new post & answering comments.
10:00 pm – my laptop is not allowed in my bedroom after this time. Thus, once I get ready for bed, I’ll take my phone and spend some time on Instagram, follow new people, heart pictures, leave comments or post something new if I haven’t yet. I’d also spend some time reading other blogs and watching youtube videos (vlogs and tutorials).11:00 pm – reading time! I’d spend another hour or so reading a magazine or a book. to be honest, I usually fall asleep with a read still in my hands. I make it a goal to get 8 hours of sleep, but it usually tends to be around 7 or so.
So that is that! Hopefully, that gives you a better look into my day today.
Of course, it all depends on my plans for a day, I try to keep to this schedule, but there are many surprises in my life that I can’t predict!
If you’re thinking of starting a blog for yourself, it only takes 5 minutes, go for it & make sure to leave your link in the comments!
