Running a business is no joke & we all know it. It’s often said that more than half of new businesses fail during the first year. Don’t let this happen to you! Here are 7 habits for you to adapt that will help you become a successful business owner.

Stick To A Routine

I know this doesn’t sound that exciting, but routine actually helps a lot in building a successful business. I noticed this from my own experience. Anytime my life is a bit out of order, I feel like it reflects on my business A LOT. I oversleep, I don’t pay enough attention to my e-mails, I just don’t have the energy to be my best self and well… that’s just not good enough.

Having a routine isn’t boring. It actually can bring so much needed structure to your days and give some extra space for you to do the things you love.

Meditating & Journaling

“So meditation, or mindfulness practice, it’s really about, to me, decreasing emotional reactivity so you can proactively create your day and create your life; versus, just being a walking reflex that sometimes screws up,” – Tim Ferris.

I’ve been using Headspace app & Five Minute Journal for over a week now & it makes such a huge difference. Of course, you don’t necessarily need any particular app or tool for adding more mindfulness into my daily routine, but these help me a lot to actually stay on track.

Dedicating some time to check in with myself. Meditating & journaling for even a few minutes a day really helps me feel more present & helpful about what I have so far. This really is the best thing you can do for yourself, my friend.

Set Income Goals

Let me be clear on this. Money is not what drove me to start an online business. The truth is, back when I started my blog, I didn’t even know that someone can actually make money online. I kind of feel like this was simply meant to be & I’m so thrilled to know that I’m now able to pay my bills doing what I love the most. However, in the last 5 years of blogging full-time, I realized how important it is to be smart about the money you make. So if you haven’t yet- go ahead and create a spreadsheet. Put any amount you’re making money & set yourself a goal for the next year, month or week. It’ll help you set a proper business mindset which will eventually allow you to expand further.

Always Look For Better Ways

Improve, improve, improve. Always keep thinking about the ways you can improve the products or services that you offer. Read, listen to podcasts, get to know people that inspire you and whatever you do- just keep doing your best. Make your products lighter, faster, better and always keep looking for better ways.

Don’t Put All Of Your Eggs In One Basket

Having multiple streams of income simply allow you to sleep better at night. Seriously, all of this online business comes with its ups and downs, so stress is a common thing that most of the online entrepreneurs have to deal with. By bringing various income streams, you will be able to manage where your money comes from. Thus, if at any point of the year one area is not doing that well enough, another one will be able to pick things up.

Put Your Customers First

I absolutely love my clients. However, when I feel overwhelmed with work, I don’t feel like I show them enough love and respect & that makes a huge impact on my business. You see, successful business owners spend enough time showing love to their clients & really analyze their clients’ needs. We all know the saying ” the customer is always right ” and well…it makes a lot of sense!

Always Keep Learning

Every successful entrepreneur out there always has a list of books/courses/conferences/etc they are on their way to conquer! If you’ve decided to put yourself through growing a business, you have to prepare yourself for never-ending study. Your business will keep you on your toes at all times, but in all honesty- I wouldn’t have it any other way!
