It’s been around six years since I’ve first started my online business ventures & so much has changed. Not only my business grew significantly throughout the years, I’m now finally in the season where my number one goal is to optimize my business as much as possible, so I have more space for new opportunities in life. Wondering how am I optimizing my business this season? Keep on reading…
So I first heard about this technique on Tim Ferris’ youtube video in which he explains how dedicating blocks of time to similar tasks helps to decrease distraction and increase productivity. For Tim, he dedicates each day to particular tasks and even has content creation weeks every quarter. He now even travels in batches instead of taking trips here and there. I absolutely loved the idea of this & I’ve actually remembered myself doing this a few times when my schedule got really busy & it worked like a charm.
Thus, to make my workload a bit easier on me, I’m now going through the process where I can actually incorporate this type of work for good. My plan is to do client work on Mondays & Thursdays, focus on the content during Tuesdays and Fridays and leave Wednesdays for marketing and doing more of real-life interactions for my business or new projects. I hope to update you on the process in the future, let me know if you’re looking to try batching technique yourself so we can support each other!
It’s important to learn to let things go when it comes to your business. This is why I’m slowly, but surely getting rid of the products and services that don’t sell anymore and try to no longer focus on marketing approaches that didn’t make that much of a difference. Instead, I want to really focus on one or two platforms and really push the popular products forward. I want to become an expert in certain fields rather now a little bit about everything.
You know what they say “when it’s time to grow, it’s time to let go”. I’m very grateful for each sale & opportunity that got me to the place I’m right now, but I feel like the time has come to work on something new and challenge myself even further. I want to let go of the things with the smile on my face and want to
I absolutely love my clients. However, when I feel overwhelmed with work, I don’t feel like I show them enough love and respect. I don’t think this is right and I want to make a real change.
I want to spend more time on my e-mails & really analyze my clients’ needs, I want to help them achieve their blogging goals through my blog consulting and turn their blogs into awesome brands through my blog design services. I want them to feel like I’m really there, a real-life Kotryna that really believes in their work.
Throughout the years, I’ve felt like I’ve tried a bit of everything. I did e-mail marketing, social media marketing, I’ve joined and left communities, I’ve got crazy interested in SEO, I’ve invested in paid advertising, I’ve collaborated with influencers and all of it taught me one important lesson. This lesson finally helped me see things clearly.
This season, I want to focus on slow marketing. In our fast-paced world, there is a critical need to slow down. Why? Because I feel like doing so will allow me to achieve real results—faster. I want to put more effort into my content & really think about what do I put out there. The time has come to spam less & say more.
I’m ashamed to admit this, but back when I’ve started my business, the quality was the last thing on my mind. I was creating products like crazy & selling them for cheap. I wanted to see a quick growth & ignored the recommendations from my clients. Boy, I was wrong… Luckily, I’ve realized this is a no way to go a couple of years in and have been improving my skills ever since. These days our themes take only a few clicks to install and my clients’ don’t have to be tech savvy whatsoever to use my products and that was my actual goal in the first place. I now want to continue bringing even more advanced products your way! If there’s anything you have in mind that would make your life easier as a blogger/online biz owner- let me know!
This is a huge one, folks. Everything, seriously, everything that happens with my business is closely linked to my own feelings. When I don’t feel motivated- I might not blog as much, when I feel unsafe financially, I would go ahead and take too many projects upon and as much as I hate admitting this it isn’t great approach towards the business. This season, I want to make business-minded decisions & really think about the big picture. I now understand I’m not in this for a sprint, running your own business is like running a marathon. Maintaining the sprint pace during a marathon indefinitely is impossible. Even trying to maintain that sprint pace is a set up for burnout. I would much rather have a fulfilling year than have a super successful month and then be so exhausted and burned out that all I want to do is lie down on the floor and look to the ceiling.
Optimising my business is crucial. I want to build a company that allows me to have that freedom in life and without making the changes mentioned in this post, I don’t feel like I can go any further. I hope to have you guys by my side throughout all of this process.
P.S. Let me know if you’re running your own business yourself and if you’re thinking of making some changes this season as well. I’d love to learn from your experience!
