I listen to audiobooks all the time. Is there an Audible addict club anywhere? I’d love to join!
I feel like I’ve been quite open about my search for self-love this year & audiobooks have really been the best medicine when it comes to boosting my self-esteem. Thus, today I decided to share some of the books I recommend to all of my friends & I really hope they can help you if you’ve been feeling a bit down lately.
The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*ck– in this generation-defining self-help guide, Mark Manson cuts through the crap to show us how we can finally accept ourselves for who we are. The author advises us to get to know our limitations and accept them. Once we embrace our fears, faults, and uncertainties, once we stop running and avoiding and start confronting painful truths, we can begin to find the courage, perseverance, honesty, responsibility, curiosity, and forgiveness we seek.
You Do You– Being yourself should be the easiest thing in the world. Yet instead of leaning into who we are, we fight it, listening too closely to what society tells us. You Do You helps you shake off those expectations, encourages us to ignore the perfection, start looking out for number one and keep on with your badass self. This book really helps you to realise how awesome you are & no-one can change it.
Women Who Run with the Wolves– so this one might be dedicated to my female audience, but some of the tips in here can really apply to both genders. In this masterpiece, Dr. Estes uses myths and folktales to illustrate how societies systematically strip away the feminine spirit. Through an exploration into the nature of the wild woman archetype, the author helps listeners rediscover and free their own wild nature. This really helps you understand your habits & perceptions in all different light and makes you fall in love with yourself for what you have always been.
Braving the Wilderness The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone– As the author puts it “when we stand alone, we find ourselves”. This is a book about true belonging, not fitting in, it’s about finding who you are and accepting yourself. It’s about loving you even if you feel like you do not belong. It explains that true belonging doesn’t require us to change who we are. It requires us to be who we are.
The Gifts of Imperfection– within this book the author engages our minds, hearts, and spirits as she explores how we can cultivate the courage, compassion, and connection to wake up in the morning and think, “No matter what gets done and how much is left undone, I am enough,” and to go to bed at night thinking, “Yes, I am sometimes afraid, but I am also brave. And, yes, I am imperfect and vulnerable, but that doesn’t change the truth that I am worthy of love and belonging”. Definitely worth your attention, if you’ve been feeling a bit overwhelmed lately.
P.S. Don’t forget to grab your free audiobook on Audible. Let me know which one you choose to listen to first!
