..I started this blog of mine over 3 years ago with no intention of turning it into something more than just a hobby. Surprise, surprise… Not even a full year into blogging I felt deeply in love with making things happen online. I opened my design shop and I’ve been working for myself full-time ever since. I couldn’t be more grateful to the blogging community for supporting me along the way and today I wanted to share with you all some ways that blogging improved my life and business. I hope by reading this you’re going to realise how important it is to be present online these days and learn some of the top benefits of blogging.

It can be stressful to be your own boss, but it definitely brings some benefits to the table. Becoming a full-time blogger meant I was no longer attached to any location. As much as I enjoy having my routine, I feel so happy to know that I have a chance to run away to the other side of the world whenever I feel like it. I blogged from a campervan driving around New Zealand, I wrote some of my top posts at Brooklyn’s coffee shops and during the summer, I always prefer working from the seaside. The sky has no limits!
I feel so great every time I get an email or a tweet from my readers telling me that my blog inspired them to blog more or they learned a thing or two from my blogging tips or Design Your Own Blog E-course. It’s so rewarding to know your job is actually helping someone out there.
Before I started my blog, I was pretty much in a complicated relationship with my creative side. I got into photography when I was around 14, I designed my first website around the age of 15, but I could’ve never found the place where I can actually express myself the way I want to. Starting a blog evaluated me to realise that my work has a value and the support I received from my readers proved to me that it’s OK to experiment and learn as you go.
I like spending money. That’s my confession. However, if I have a choice I’d always support a small business instead of giving my money to a large corporation. If I’m about to purchase something online, 99% of the time I would research the creators of a brand, stalk their social media channels and read their blogs. I believe that having a blog puts a human’s face on any brand and I want my customers to know me & trust me before they make a purchase.
I always had trouble following the rules. I’ve been a great student at my high school and university, but I always felt like following the schedule is simply not for me. I’d skip on lessons and study at home instead. I can’t tell you how many times I was late for work or a lecture. Since I’m now in complete control of my time, I feel so much better about my productivity. I love taking a Friday off if I feel like I can’t function 100% that day, but I would then spend my Sundays creating and developing projects for clients.
There are simply no limits in blogging. If you get 1k page views a month, you can then reach for 10k, 100k or a million! Your goal can be as big as reach every single person online with your content and no-one would laugh at you as it might actually be possible. Of course, you will have to work your ass off, but you can definitely make things happen if you put work into it! There’s no-one to stop you or limit your goals. As long as I’m blogging I feel the urge to read more, to learn more, to improve myself in order to provide best possible content for my blog.
The best thing about blogging is a community. There are so many talented people out there creating amazing content online, sharing their art and giving their knowledge away for free. I’m so thrilled to be a part of this cool gang and I feel grateful for all online and offline people I’ve met and will meet through blogging.
Blogging and social media presence, in general, gives you a possibility to advertise yourself and your business free of charge. I don’t have to pay for placing ads all over the internet simply because I create online content myself and I then advertise my own services on my blog.
My blog is my No.1 Referral Traffic source for my blog design website. The more content I create, the more chances my readers will turn into my customers by visiting my shop through my blog. I also have a separate Tutorials Blog on my website and it already showed to be so helpful for my website. The visitors I get from my blog posts are already people interested into online businesses and blog designs, which probably means that they also might be needing my services if not now, at some point in the future.
My parents are awesome. They never forcibly pushed me towards any particular direction in my life and gave me total freedom to decide on who I want to be when I grow up. However, I still felt this pressure. I thought that in order to succeed I had to spend my time worrying about grades, university, getting a job, working my ass off before asking for a promotion and simply keeping my head down before the time comes.
My understanding about life changed completely when I was able to pay my rent from the money I made blogging. Suddenly, everything seemed possible. I was learning more than I ever did through 15 years of education. I was getting inspired daily by people I saw living their dreams blogging, making youtube videos and building successful online businesses. I finally found some inner peace through seeing those examples as I knew that as long as I put work and heart into the work I do- I’ll be fine, no matter what anyone says.
