I started bleaching my hair when I was 14 years old. My natural hair colour is this ashy brown/blonde and I felt like it never matched my personality. Last autumn I died my hair dark brown and it kind of let me to get lazy about my hair. My natural shade came back and I was pretty happy about being all natural again… Not for long tho! Last month, I finally booked an appointment with a hairstylist and went a bit crazy. I died my hair grey and couldn’t be happier! I feel like I would love to stick to this colour for a while as I really feel myself again. Taking care of bleached hair can be a bit of a struggle, but with the right products- you can definitely keep them alive!
This is my ultimate team!
WASH:
I try to wash hair no more than 2-3 times a week. Having bleached hair means they are naturally drier and don’t get that oily in a day. I use dry shampoos in between days, but when I actually was my hair I choose organic shampoos. At the moment my favourite is this Rosemary shampoo by Urterkram. The rosemary gives strength to my hair while gently cleaning my scalp. It’s also famous with its anti-viral, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial properties, used as well in dandruff treatments. The smell is lovely too! I love unisex smells for my hair products and if you do too- this is the shampoo for you!
CONDITION:
I can’t really find my favourite conditioner. I change them every a couple of months as my hair ten to get used to the products very easily. At the moment I’m using this SYOSS conditioner with Keratin Primer and it seems to be doing its job really well! It gives an instant keratin boost to my hair with immediate softness and shine.
TONE:
Every other wash I use Purple shampoo to tone my hair and keep that grey colour. My hairstylist recommended this Color Freeze Silver shampoo by Schwarzkopf. Having used a number of purple shampoos in the past I can really say that this one actually tones your hair properly! It even gives a bit of a purple undertone which is just perfect!
PROTECT:
Extra protection is a must to damaged hair. I’m a busy bee during this time of year and I can’t really sit there and wait for my hair to dry naturally. Heat is definitely something you should avoid as much as possible if you bleach your hair, but if that’s not an option- get yourself some Macadamia products to save your hair from breaking. I use Nourishing Moisture oil treatment on my ends straight after I was my hair. I then apply some Blow Dry lotion from mid to the end of my hair before drying them. These products keep moisture in my hair & give that right amount of extra protection.
MAINTAIN:
Having a good brush is also crucial. I love using my Tangle Teaser and since I got it all of my old brushes went to the back of my beauty drawer. It helps you untangle your hair easily without pulling. I also love to treat my hair with a hair mask once a week or once every 2 weeks. At the moment I use Olive Oil hair cream I got from Boots a while back, but I would really love to try some LUSH masks soon. Have you tried them yet? Which one is your favourite?
I hope you enjoyed these basic tips! I promise that if you apply them all they will have effect and keep delicate, damaged and bleached hair healthier.
